ITANAGAR, July 10 - Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has directed the concerned authorities to be vigilant and be in preparedness to effectively tackle the disasters like flash flood, landslide caused by incessant rainfall in different parts of the hilly State.

The State, including the capital, Itanagar, is witnessing heavy downpour since last few days that resulted in damage of roads, bridges, culverts, houses and reported loss of livestock.

The Chief Minister asked all the concerned departments to coordinate and work out a State emergency mitigation plan under the supervision of the Chief Secretary.

He also directed the Disaster Management department to issue instructions to all the district administrations to provide sufficient relief materials, essential ration commodities, life-saving drugs and basic requirements like, drinking water to the flood affected people.

Khandu said that if situation warrants, helicopter sorties would be put into service for air-dropping of ration items to the areas where surface communication has been disrupted.

Expressing sorrow over the devastations caused by cloudburst-triggered flood at Kaspi under West Kameng district on Monday where a person is reportedly missing, the CM has asked the DC to involve NDRF & SDRF in the search and rescue operations.
