Bathou Convention concludes

TEZPUR, Feb 7 � Bathou Convention, a religious meet of the Bodo community, concluded today at Boro National Academy playground, Borpukhuri, Gohpur.

The two-day convention was held under the aegis of Sonitpur district Bathou Convention, which was attended by the delegates from the entire North Eastern region, besides North Bengal and Nepal.

The convention began with the flag-hoisting ceremony on Sunday. The flag was unfurled by Parameswar Brahma, president, central committee of the Bathou Convention. A souvenir brought out on the occasion, Moihahendoi, was released by Basista Boro, adviser of the committee.

A meeting for youths and mothers was held on Sunday afternoon. The meeting was presided over by Phuleswari Narzari, president, Mainaow Afder.

A book titled Gauza Sindurani Beshen, written by Lakhmiram Basumatary, was also released in the same meeting by Sunilal Basumatary, senior lecturer of Chaiduar College.

A cultural and religious procession was taken out this morning. The Bagromba, Kherai, Kham Siphung took part in the procession.

The open session was held this afternoon. The EMs of BTAD, Mitharam Basumatary and Loumashree Basumatary, along with Kipa Babu, MLA of the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly, were present in the session.
