Basanta Utsav celebration from May 10

JORHAT, April 30 � ONGCians of Assam Asset are hosting Basanta Utsav-2012 at the ONGC Colony of Sivasagar with a three-day programme from May 10.

An organizing committee is being formed in this connection which is headed by Anil Kr Sachan, GGM(HDS) as president and Simanta Gogoi as secretary.

It is worth mentioning here that Basanta Utsav of ONGC�s Assam Asset has been recognized as one of the main attractions of Ronagli Bihu celebrations in the entire length and breadth of Brahmaputra Valley. It has successfully showcased the pristine Assamese cultural to the rest of India while being rooted to the original. Successful event management and demonstration of rich cultural mosaic of different ethnic tribes of this region are the hallmarks of Basanta Utsav.

The event has been honoured with numerous awards since it was first celebrated six years back.

The Assam Cultural Academy under the Union Ministry of Cultural Affairs has selected Basanta Utsav-2011 as the Best Bihu Toli (ground) in Assam.

Earlier, the Assam Bihu Sanmilani, a government-recognized body of renowned Bihu critics of Assam, honoured Basanta Utsav-2011 with the Best of the Best Bihu Mancha Award.

Like in previous years, this year also various competitions will be hosted during the three days of Bihu celebration. The best Hosuri Dole will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs 1,0000,1, the second with Rs 50,001 and the third with Rs 25,001. In the Bihu dance section, the Bor Bihuwati will receive cash prize of Rs 50,001 and Rs 25,001 and Rs 15,001 for second and third prize winner dancers respectively.
