Barpeta situation normal

GUWAHATI, Aug 30 � The overall situation in Barpeta district, which witnessed violent incidents during the 12-hour Assam Bandh called by the All Assam Minority Students� Union (AAMSU) on Tuesday, has become normal, official sources here said.

Meanwhile, the Group of Ministers (GoM) headed by Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Prithivi Majhi, has decided to sit tomorrow morning to finalise its report on the rehabilitation of the people displaced during the ethnic clashes that took place in the last month in the Bodoland Territorial Administrative Districts (BTAD) areas.

The GoM, which includes Planning and Development Minister Tanka Bahadur Rai, Social Welfare Minister Akon Bora, Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Agriculture Minister Nilamani Sen Deka, besides Majhi, will be sitting at the office chamber of the Revenue Minister, said the official sources.
