Barpeta Satra Samaj meet at Rangiya

RANGIYA, March 9 - Under the auspices of Lesakonia Govinda Ata zonal committee in association with Srimanta Sankaradeva Satra here, the annual conference of Barpeta Satra Samaj will be held with a two-day programme on May 10 and 11 next at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Satra premises at Santipur of the locality.

The programme will start with Pratah Prasanga in the morning, followed by Satra prayer separately by the women and menfolk of Satriya culture. The above will be followed by welcoming of the Satra leaders, plantation drive, story-telling contest about the Satras, followed by mother and youths� meet in the afternoon on the inaugural day.

In the evening session on that day, a souvenir will be released by Assam Police DGP (Law and Order) Kula Saikia, followed by community lighting of earthen lamps. On the second day, besides other religious Satra programmes, Dharmadhwaja Uttwulan (unfurling of religious insigne) will be followed by the open session. President Krishna Lahkar and secretary Umesh Mahanta on behalf of the organising committee have solicited the presence and participation of all sections of the religious community in order to make the two-day programme a success.
