PATACHARKUCHI, Oct 27 - Barpeta Deputy Commissioner Thaneswar Malakar conducted surprise visits in seven important offices under Bajali Sub-division recently and found a number of employees absent without prior information, and even cases of staff not reaching office on time.
He informed this newspaper that strict action will be taken against the errant employees as per the State Government�s service rules and the matter will be intimated to the higher authority.
Meanwhile, the local people lauded the surprise visit conducted by the Deputy Commissioner at a time when there were frequent public allegations that a number of employees reach office late as a matter of rule, while some remain absent without even caring to keep the office authority informed, thus flouting official rules with impunity.
The Deputy Commissioner also visited the Executive Engineer and SDO offices of the Irrigation Department, Bajali Development Block situated at Choukhuty, PWD, SDO Office, Block Elementary Education Office, Bajali, Agriculture Engineering Office and Public Health Engineer�s Office. He expressed shock when he found a number of employees absent in the said offices.
Further, he also visited the Civil SDO�s Bajali Office and held an interactive session with the officials concerned, besides taking stock of the various activities in the presence of Subhalakshmi Deka, Civil SDO of Bajali.
During his interaction with the officials, Malakar discussed about the progress of NRC work and its completion on schedule, timely collection of revenue, regarding Bakijai cases, and implementation of Swachha Bharat Mission by keeping all the office premises and public places clean. He stressed on holding Rajah Adalats in various places of the sub-division in order to settle pending cases.
