NAGAON, May 11 � Hojai Subdivision bandh was observed on Tuesday which was called by local journalists� association and other organisations in protest against the attack on Amar Asam Doboka correspondent Abdul Hekim on May 4 last.
The local people apprehended the culprits, namely Yahiah Ahmed Barbhuyan and Selim Ahmed of Muslim Students� Union.
But it was alleged that police released them from the Doboka PS. However, after discussion with local administration, the bandhs was called off at 1 pm.
Journalist Hekim was injured seriously and was hospitalised in BP Civil Hospital. A number of organisations including Nagaon Press Club condemned the incident and demanded exemplary punishment to the culprits.
