DIPHU, March 6 � The 15-day Karbi Anglong bandh, which started this morning, has paralyzed normal life in the hill district.
There was no vehicular movement on the roads here since the morning and government offices and private establishments also kept their shutters down. However, HSLC examination centres were open during the bandh period. There was also no report of any violence till the filing of this report.
It needs to be mentioned here that Karbi Students� Association, Karbi Unemployed Youth Association (KUYA), Karbi Students� and Youth Council (KSYC), Karbi Human Right Watch (KHRW), All India Karbi National Assembly (AIKNA), Kuki Students� Organization (KSO), Dimasa Students� Union (DSU), All Dimasa Students� Union and Karbi Riso Adorbar (KRA), Karbi Anglong district unit called the bandh in protest against the TET in the district.
Interacting with reporters, Laichan Engleng, president of KSA said that the authority has assured the organisations to conduct TET examination separately for Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council district. He further said that if the authority would not take initiative to fulfill the demands, the organisations would be compelled to intensify their agitation programme.
Kurusar Timung, general secretary of KUYA opposed the implementation of TET conducted by the State government and demanded conduct of the TET by the KAAC authority separately. He also appealed to the people of the district to support the bandh in the interest of the local people.
