NALBARI, Oct 26 - With the festival of lights, Diwali, just around the corner, the local artisans of Bahjani area in Nalbari district are busy making their traditional fireworks.

The fireworks and crackers of Bahjani area are in high demand in and around Nalbari and its adjoining districts. In Bahjani area, the families have been engaged in this profession from generation after generation.

After the popularity of the crackers named Laden, Anamika and Modi in the last few years, the firework makers of the area have made Special Pakistan Missile 5000 crackers this year to attract the people.

The light of Missile 5000 will touch 5000 feet height on the festive evening, Nilima Talukdar, an artisan of the village, claimed. The artisans of Bahjani areas, who are working round-the-clock are hopeful that this Diwali the demands of their products will increase as the boycott call to the Chinese goods looming large all over the State.

They claimed that the crackers made by the traditional artisans will touch a height of 200 feet on an average and the brightness of colours is more than cheap Chinese crackers. The new crackers will be available in the markets of Kamrup, Goalpara, Rangiya, Mangaldai, Tezpur, among others, they added.
