MANGALDAI, Jan 3 - The third Jiban Deka and Renu Deka Memorial Sub junior, Junior Prize-money Badminton Competition got under way at the Gopinath Bordoloi Indoor Stadium here on Tuesday.
The tournament, organised by the Mangaldai Club to celebrate its foundation day, has drawn a total number of 50 boys and girls.
In the inaugural matches of the sub junior boys (U-13) category, Arindom Goswami beat Digboloi Kalita in straight sets 21-16, 21-15 while Neeraj Das defeated Sovit Protim 21-14, 21-16. The final of the three-day tournament will be played on January 5 as informed by Basanta Deka, secretary in charge of the indoor stadium.
