GUWAHATI, May 20 - Demanding immediate action against a person responsible for spreading superstitious beliefs among the people of Odalbakra, Guwahati human rights activist Dibyajyoti Saikia has asked the State government to take the superstition-related cases on a priority as they can be the source of some gruesome crimes.
Alleging that Robin Rajbongshi, who calls himself an incarnation of Lord Shiva, has been creating nuisance at Sonaighuli Deuri Mancha Road for the past one year, Saikia said that the person misleads the innocents in the name of treating cancer and controlling atmospheric temperature at his will.
�On May 19, he tried to intimidate some people with a machete and earlier also, he tried to terrorise his neighbours on various superstitious grounds,� he mentioned.
An FIR was lodged in this connection at the Odalbakra outpost and a case has been registered at the Dispur Police Station.
