Baarhoongkha, Trinayanjyoti make it to semis

GUWAHATI, July 12 - Baarhoongkha AC of Kokrajhar and Trinayanjyoti FC of Chabua sailed into the semifinal stage of the Assam State Premier League.

In the away semifinal match against Guwahati FC at the Nehru Stadium here today, the Kokrajhar team played 2-2 draw. Their home match on July 8 was ended 1-1 draw and as they scored two goals in the away match, according to the rules they have qualified for the semifinal stage.

It was a mediocre encounter as both the teams seemed tired and hardly could entertain their supporters. Nwukwu Michael Okudili put Baarhoongkha ahead in the very third minute anticipating a cross from Pranab Das inside the box (1-0).

After changing over the local boys drew parity through Newson Kom in the 50th minute who beat the opponent custodian Anil Duwarah with firm swerving drive (1-1). Nwukwu struck again in the 71st minute with a long ranger. Guwahati FC goalkeeper Santi Ranjan Das came out of his place and Nwukwu�s lofted shot entered into goal (2-1). But the Guwahati FC boys tried all out in the later part and levelled the issue in the 86th minute through Kom (2-2). The ball was reflected off Anil�s gloves of a Lallian�s shot and Kom volleyed home.

At Moran: Trinayanjyoti FC of Chabua defeated Moran Town Club 3-2 in a thrilling second leg quarterfinal match.

Trailing 0-2 till the 78th minute, the Chabua team made a tremendous rally and struck thrice through Swnwam Basumatary (78th minute), Sunday Ogar Ajuk (87th and 90+2 minutes).

Earlier Hope Rolly (23rd minute) and Dhahesh Daimary (59th minute) put the Moran team 2-0 ahead.

The first leg match between the teams was ended in a 2-2 draw at Chabua on July 8.
