Awareness prog on road safety

DHUBRI, Jan 13 - To promote safety driving habits among the people Dhubri, the District Transport Office organised an awareness programme and procession rally on the 4th day of the 28th Road Safety Week recently.

Speaking on the occasion, Dibyajyoti Karzi, DTO, Dhubri, said that in a town like Dhubri where all the roads are narrow, congested and one-way, it is a must to adopt healthy driving habits and pass such habits to the next generation. He also requested the schools to teach the students the meanings of signals and road signs.

Election Officer Bircindra Barua pointed out different ways to make the roads safe and sound. �Dhubri immediately needs a few designated road parking areas. Apart from adopting safety road habits, we must also know our vehicles,� said Baruah who added, �People must know what is BIS standard and the emission standard of vehicles.�

Apurba Kumar Das, MVI, Chagoliya Gate; senior advocate Kasem Ali Prodhani; senior journalist Jotirmoyee Chakravorty; Mosco Saikia, Traffic IC Dhubri; BSF squad in-charge Puspa Raj, were among the dignitaries present in the programme.
