Awareness meet on superstitions organised

DOOMDOOMA, June 13 - Doomdooma branch of Elora Vigyan Mancha (EVM) in collaboration with Tinsukia district administration organised an awareness meeting on superstitions at Line Number-11 of Hansara Tea Estate here on Sunday. Doomdooma branch EVM president Jhikananda Borgohain chaired the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, the working president of the branch advocate Tarini Deka, vice-president journalist Arjun Baruah, secretary and an associate professor of Doomdooma College Dr Ajibur Rahman, a student of science stream of Doomdooma College Dibakar Baruah and teacher of the primary school of the garden Basanti Patar tried to educate the labourers of the garden against superstitious beliefs and urged them to go to the hospital when they fall ill.

It can be mentioned here that a couple were killed by the labourers of this line on August 15, 2015 for allegedly practising witchcraft.

Doomdooma branch EVM then urged the Tinsukia district administration to provide assistance to organise awareness programmes in the tea gardens and rural areas of Doomdooma circle against superstition.
