Awareness generated on army worm infestation

GUWAHATI, Sept 23 - An awareness camp was organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Barpeta in the army worm-infested areas of Pahla Simalubari village at Patacharkuchi recently, a press release received here stated.

The camp was organised in collaboration with IFFCO, Barpeta, and the State Department of Agriculture, Barpeta.

A team comprising Dr AK Deka, GK Upamanya, PD Barman from KVK, Barpeta, B Saikia from IFFCO, Barpeta, and S Sharma from the Department of Agriculture, Barpeta, visited the affected paddy fields.

A demonstration on the use of pesticides was also organised. Some pesticides like chlorpyrifos, triazophos etc., were distributed among the farmers. Around 50 farmers were present in the programme.

Earlier, KVK scientists inspected the paddy fields along with the officials of the State Department of Agriculture and took part in discussions held with the Barpeta Deputy Commissioner regarding the management of swarming caterpillar.
