Awards to Assam Scouts and Guides

GUWAHATI, Aug 12 - Governor PB Acharya, who is also the president of Bharat Scouts & Guides, Assam, presided over the presentation ceremony for the Rajya Puraskar of Bharat Scouts & Guides, Assam, at the Raj Bhawan Durbar Hall here on Tuesday, a press release stated.

Altogether 290 certificates were presented by the Governor to Scouts and Guides from all over Assam. Around 350 people attended the function including Scouts and Guides, officials, in-charges of districts and instructors.

Earlier, the Governor was felicitated by the State Association and the North East Regional Chapter of Bharat Scouts & Guides. The Governor said that �we should now live to make a shashakt and samriddh Bharat. We have to live for the country and take it forward.� He also added that the North East must progress for India to prosper.

While calling for the induction of more students from government schools into Bharat Scouts & Guides, the Governor said the Scouts & Guides movement should be made dynamic without allowing it to stagnate at any moment.

�From KG to PG, you acquire knowledge and knowledge is strength,� Acharya said while reiterating that education empowers a person. He also advocated the addition of skills in the curriculum, stating that the universities should become skill development centres apart from being knowledge centres, the press release added.
