Award for best reporting on dams

GUWAHATI, Feb 17 � To encourage journalists working on the issue of big dam, Panos Institute South Asia's RELAY programme has invited submissions from working journalists for the Best Reporting on Dams and Development Award.

Addressing media persons here on Friday, Panos South Asia (North East) functionaries said that this award aims to motivate quality reporting in the North East region.

"The programme aims to contribute to quality media coverage on important social and economic issues in the North East. The current focus is on dams and development in the region," said Arup Jyoti Das, programme manager, North East India, Panos South Asia.

This award is only for print media journalists based in North East. Interested individuals may submit up to three writings between 1000 and 1500 words approximately published during the period of January 2011 to January 2012. The subject of the writings has to be dams and development in North East India. Writings submitted for the competition has to be based on research and field studies. Articles, reporting, opinion, analysis, news story and features are eligible for entries.
