Auniati Satra�s foundation day observed

AMGURI, April 5 � The 358th foundation day of the historical Sri Sri Auniati Satra (SSAS) was observed at the premises of the SSAS�s branch at Kaliapani, Teok in Jorhat district with a day-long programme.

The day�s programme started in the morning by hoisting the Dharma-Dhwaja by the Deka Satradhikar Debananda Deva Goswami. It was followed by the plantation programme in the Satra premises by Dr Bhupen Bhagawati.

After the Satriya naam prasanga, a special lecture on different topics of moral education for the adolescent students of high school level, was formally inaugurated by Dr Pitambar Deva Goswami, Satradhikar, SSAS. The function was conducted under the chairmanship of Tuaram Khanikar retired professor Swahid Moniram Dewan College, Charing. The function started with the performance of Gayan-Bayan by young (Vaisnavites) of SSAS, Majuli, with traditional Satriya attires. It was followed by award distribution and release of a book.

The Sankardev Research Award for the year 2011-12, was formally awarded to Hindi Sahitya literature Sanwarmal Sangeneria for his book titled Lohit Ke Manasputra Sankardev, by Satradhikar Dr Pitambar Deva Goswami. The award included a citation, a packet of books, a cane made traditional Satriya hand fan ( a speciality of SSAS, Majuli) and a cash of Rs 10,000. The Satradhikar also released a book titled Sri Sri Krishnar Amrit Bani Gita: Rahasya Aru Mahatmya, written by Lekhika Labonya Rajkonwar of Naharkatia.

The lecture included the topics like � the necessity of moral education in formation of character, necessity of prayer, devotion to the parents and its necessity, honour to the superior and respectful affection to the old, thinking of God may protect the society, the influences of dresses in creation of morality, character and its perception, greatness of truthfulness, moral education and home environment, social responsibilities of the adolescents, and home is the foundation of all educations. Seventeen students participated in the lecture programme. The students were from the schools of the surrounding areas of the Kaliapani Satra.

Dr Pitambar Deva Goswami, Satradhikar, SSAS, in his inaugural speech said that today�s unusual function carrying a message to us would help to minimise disparagement ill-feeling, degradation of value education, malice prevailed in our present societies atleast to some extent. Therefore, the necessity of this type of function cannot be ruled out, the Satradhikar remarked.

With Dhulia-Chong performed by Koihati (Nalbari) Dhula-dol and Ekalabyar Guru Dakshina Bhaona� performed by Bhagamukh Monikanchan Natya-Dol, at night the day�s programme concluded.
