Desperate for a victory after a string of losses, Chennaiyin FC played with plan and purpose against ATK to put the home side under pressure in the opening half. Brazilian Augusto played like a possessed man in the midfield and his promtings kept the visitors on the attack.

Halfway past the first half the Brazilian produced the magic moment for the Chennai team with a fine goal in the 26th minute.
