GUWAHATI, July 18 � Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today laid stress on controlling flood and erosion. The two have emerged as major problems for the State, he said while releasing the flood hazard atlas of the State at a function organised by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) at the NEDFi House here this evening.
The State has, however, gained experience in dealing with the twin problems and with the help of the new technologies it is going to mitigate natural disasters like these in the coming days, the Chief Minister was quoted as saying in the function by official sources.
Commenting on the atlas, the Chief Minister said that it would help in determining the future course of action in mitigating these problems.
