DHEMAJI, June 20 - The All Tai Ahom Students Union (ATASU) has protested the Assam bandh called by the Samannayrakshi Samiti of the tribal organisations of the State tomorrow, objecting against the Government taking steps for the inclusion of six ethnic communities of Assam including the Ahoms.

Manoj Gogoi, president and Debakanta Gogoi, secretary, All Tai Ahom Students Union said that the Samannayrakshi Samiti has no right to hinder them from availing the ST status which is their birth right. They vehemently criticised the protesting organisation and warned it not to create any obstacles in their way. The ATASU leaders also have called upon the people ofAssam not to abide by the bandh call but to defy it collectively.
