By Correspondent

TINSUKIA, March 11 - Protesting the list of party candidates of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the ensuing Assembly election that was published on Wednesday, the Tinsukia district committee of All Tai Ahom Students Union (ATASU) staged a dharna and burnt the effigies of BJPs State president Sarbananda Sonowal and Himanta Biswa Sarma at Rungagora Road near Thana Chariali here yesterday, terming them as anti-Ahom community people.

Alleging that both have conspired against the community by depriving suitable candidates from the Ahom community. Milan Buragohain, president of the district committee further stated that the party had selected a communal-minded person in Tinsukia constituency and controversial candidates in Margherita and Sadiya. He demanded that the list should be changed, else ATASU would restrict the movement of BJP candidates and electioneering of the party in the areas which are dominated by indigenous people.
