GUWAHATI, July 10 - Basant Gogoi, president of All Tai Ahom Students� Union Kamrup (M), Guwahati Committee has condoled the demise of former ATASU leader and BJP State executive member Aswini Chetia. Chetia had died of cancer at a city hospital here on Thursday. He was 49.
In his condolence message Gogoi said Chetia�s demise has brought to an end an inspiring era of Tai Ahom student politics in Assam. He said Chetia had always stood for the cause of the student community irrespective of affiliations.
Monya Bamey, advisor, Guwahati Galo Students� Union (GGSU) in his condolence message said Chetia will always be remembered for his work towards friendly inter-community relationships.
Vinoto Shohe of Nagaland Students� Union, Chandigarh while condoling Chetia�s untimely demise, said the former ATASU leader was an able student leader and his experience and absence would be badly missed in the days to come.
