GUWAHATI, Jan 28 � In a laudable development, the Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC) has come forward to recognise the life-long contributions of eminent scientific personalities of the State to the field of science and technology and in popularising science. In this initiative, the ASTEC has decided to felicitate them in a series of functions, each of which will also include a speech of the felicitated scientist.
According to an ASTEC press release, the name of the initiative is �Asomor Bigyani�. In the inaugural episode of this series of programmes, the council has decided to felicitate Professor Anil Kumar Goswami, a towering personality in the State�s fields of education, science and technology, popular science movement and in creating scientific infrastructures.
The programme will�be held at 3 pm on February 1, at the conference hall of Guwahati Planetarium.�The programme also includes an interaction of Prof Goswami with the members of the audience.
