NEW DELHI, Feb 23 After a brief lull, incidents of attacks on North-easterners returned to haunt the national capital. A young woman hailing from Assam was raped by two persons, while a youth from Manipur was brutally attacked and robbed in what appears to be a case of mugging.

A 21-year-old Assamese woman was raped in South Delhis Mahipalpur area by two men, one hailing from Assam who also happened to be her friend. Both the culprits, identified as Rahul and Haroon, were arrested by Delhi Police on Sunday.

According to reports, the girl was sexually assaulted by her friend along with another on Saturday afternoon. While both the rapists escaped, the woman came out of the house and alerted a passerby before police came in.

We received a PCR call about the incident at 3:45 pm after which a team rushed to the spot, a police official said. A case was registered at the Vasant Kunj Police Station and the two men were arrested in the night. The victim has been sent to Nari Niketan.
