Assam varsity admission lapses rued by ACKHSA

By Correspondent

SILCHAR, June 7 The All Cachar Karimganj Hailakandi Students Association (ACKHSA) has expressed serious concern over the administrative lapses in connection with the admission of students into various courses under Assam University at Silchar.

In a memorandum to the Vice Chancellor Prof Somnath Dasgupta, the students body has said that abrupt distribution of application forms and announcement of last dates for submission of the forms has created confusion among the students, which resulted into a complete mess. Also, the university scrapped the bonus cut off marks for admissions into the university due to which the students were largely upset.

Through the memorandum, the ACKHSA cadres made it clear that fresh application forms must be distributed and the students must be given sufficient time to submit the forms for admission into various PG courses for the year 2014.

The University authorities must clarify as to when were the forms distributed and how could the last date for submission of forms in non-SOT courses get over even before the announcement of the TDC and HS results, the cadres questioned.

Further, the students body wanted to know under whose direction the university chose to go for admission in such a secretive manner, i.e., disclosing the information only on its website, when the authorities are fully aware that a majority of the students are not well aware of the facilities on the web. The members urged the Vice Chancellor to look into the matter and fulfil their just demands.

Not surprisingly, the ACKHSA members condemned the the concerned officials responsible for the queer decision and claimed that it was a blow to the sentiments of the students seeking admission into the university, which after all, is the result of a significant students movement led by ACKHSA.
