SILCHAR, Oct 9: At a time when the office of the Vice Chancellor of Assam University has been put under lock and key by the outgoing students' union for the past 10 days demanding the resignation of Prof Sameer Behera, former head of the Department of Mathematics, in a case of student harassment, the university is all set for elections to get a new students' union.
Polling for the union will be held today under the vigilance of Prof G Ram, chairman of the election commission of the university.
Priyanuja Bora, Abhinandan Mohanta and Shamim Barbhuiya are contesting for the post of president of the Assam University Students' Union (AUSU), and Debaprotim Saha, Raj Kumar and Bijoy Barman are up for the secretary's post.
