Assam take driver�s seat vs Rajasthan

GUWAHATI, Oct 9 - As the opening day yesterday, host Assam dominated the second day too against Rajasthan in their Group A Ranji Trophy match at the Barsapara stadium here.

Skittling out the opponent for 186 in their first innings, Assam finished the Day Two of the four-day match with 212 for the loss of four wickets and took 26-run lead with six wickets in hand.

Thanks to a splendid show by pacer Krishna Das who came out with a rich haul of five wickets for 32. It was Krishna�s fifth five-wicket innings in 23 first class matches.

Resuming at the overnight score of 147 for the loss of five wickets, Rajasthan lower order failed to compensate and surrendered meekly to Krishna.

Among the middle and lower orders, Dishant Yagnik was the top scorer who remained unbeaten with 36. Apart from him only Deepak Chahar, who was adjudged man-of-the-match in their previous match against Delhi, managed to reach double figure (10).

Apart from Krishna, ace spinner J Syed Mohammad and paceman Arup Das were among wickets with two scalps each.

At close, KB Arun Karthik and Tarjinder Singh were at the crease with 60 and 24 respectively. Skipper Gokul Sharma (46) added 81 runs with opener Pallav Das (33) for the second wicket partnership which steadied the Assam innings after the fall of other opener Rishav Das who was out before opening his account. KB Arun Karthik is at the crease for 134 minutes and he added 74 runs with Tarjinder Singh for the unbroken fifth-wicket partnership.
