Assam suffer innings defeat against Jharkhand

By Sports Reporter

GUWAHATI, Dec 19 - It was yet another disappointing day for Assam in Ranji Trophy as in an Elite Group C match at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi they suffered an innings and 67 run defeat against hosts Jharkhand.

The four-day match was completed on the third day itself as requiring 253 to make Jharkhand bat again Assam were all out for 186 in their second innings.

Like the first innings, Assam batsmen faltered again and hardly could show any determination and commitment. It proved that they are short in technique and application. Kunal Saikia top scored with 48 while Pallav Das (32), Gokul Sharma (27), Riyan Parag (26) were the only notable contributors to the Assam total.

Utkarsh Singh and Shahbaz Nadeem captured four wickets each. With this innings victory Jharkhand bagged seven points. It was their back to back victory in this season.
