GUWAHATI, Nov 30 � It was a field day for Assam batsmen as they piled up a commendable total of 502 with three centuries on the board.
On the second day of the four-day Ranji Trophy Plate Group match at Dhanbad today, after Dhiraj Jadhav, who scored 102 yesterday, Amit Sinha (109) and skipper Gokul Sharma (115) cracked tons. Tarjinder Singh was the other notable contributor with 75. After the healthy total, Assam struck back claiming two Jharkhand wickets. At stumps, the home team were 25 for two. Abu Nechim Ahmed claimed both the wickets giving away six runs.
Assam, resuming at the overnight score of 233 for three, batted with absolute resolute and crossed the 500 mark after 165.4 overs of batting. Overnight unbeaten batsman Amit Sinha and Tarjinder Singh were in complete command from the initial stage this morning. Amit scored 109 off 246. He also cracked 17 boundaries.
Gokul�s 115 came from his 185 minute toiling at the crease during which he faced 156 deliveries. Tarjinder stayed at the crease for 245 and hit eight fours during his 199-ball innings.
For Jharkhand Shabaz Nadeem took four wickets while Samar Quadri bagged three.
