GUWAHATI, Oct 16 � State Directorate of Sports along with Board of Sports of Assam will hold the Assam Sports Day tomorrow with a day-long programme.
The Assam Sports Day is organised on the occasion of birth anniversary of Radha Govinda Baruah who was instrumental in the uplift of sports infrastructure in the State. RG Baruah, the great visionary of the State, was the man under whose guidance the Nehru Stadium complex here was set up. Now the entire complex has been named after him.
The sports day will start with floral tributes being offered to the bust of RG in the RG Baruah Sports Complex at 8 am. Thereafter, the organisers will conduct table tennis and badminton championships at ABITA and Kanaklata Indoor Stadium respectively from 9 am onwards.
At 6 pm, the closing function will be organised at Kanaklata Indoor Stadium. Prizes will be distributed in the closing function.
