Assam Sports Day held in London

GUWAHATI, Aug 30 � Like previous years, the Assam Sports Day, being organised by Assam Sports & Culture ASC), UK, was participated by a good number of people of Assamese community in London recently.

The children too had their own share of fun, rolling on a bouncy castle throughout the day and participating in races, which included the 50m run for under 6-years-old and 75m for 7-years-and-over, a press statement issued by the organisers stated.

ASC is a prominent and popular event organising group in the United Kingdom. The group organises other events of cultural interest in addition to sports.

Away from the athletics, cricket was played by both men and women teams.

Later in the day during the prize distribution ceremony, certificates and medals were awarded to all the participating children, along with trophies for �Women of the match� which was won by Anjuman Ali, the men and women�s �Champions-Winning Teams� won by �Veer Chilarai� and �Kareng Ghar� respectively.

The �Outstanding Player of the Tournament�, Agnemesh Gautam , was awarded with the Ikbal Rasul Memorial Trophy and John Lewis gift vouchers.
