GUWAHATI, Nov 16 � Amongst 125 exhibitors, Assam secured the best State pavilion award in 12th international conference and exhibition on emerging trends in sustainable habitat and integrated cities�� Municipalika-2014 held at Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat recently, a press release stated.
Urban Development department, Government of Assam, represented through Guwahati Jal Board, Guwahati Municipal Corporation and Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority participated in Municipalika-2014 and also opened a State pavilion in the exhibition held at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat.
Officials from the State interacted with the visitors to the pavilion and answered their queries about different urban developmental initiatives taken by Government of Assam. Multi media clips and other publicity materials were displayed at the pavilion regarding various on-going urban developmental projects and especially the Guwahati Water Supply Project. Different State Government organisations, urban local bodies and private companies from India and abroad also took part in the exhibition.
More than 1200 delegates from different State Government organisations as well as from private sectors participated in various sessions during the conference and exchanged their ideas on various subjects. Ashima Bordoloi, mayor-in-Council, GMC, Dr Amit Sahai, Managing Director, Guwahati Jal Board and S Viswanathan, commissioner, Guwahati Municipal Corporation along with other officials attended the conference and shared their views during different sessions on various issues.
