MORIGAON, Aug 28 - Assam Rifles, Shillong entered the final of the 45th Motiram Bora Football Tournament with a clear 2-0 victory against hosts Morigaon District Sports Association in the first semifinal at the Khirod Baruah Stadium here today. The local boys made an impressive beginning mounting ample pressure on the opponent. But due to lack of adequate experience and accuracy they could not do any damage to the riflemen.
Gradually, the Shillong team took control of the situation and went 1-0 ahead in the 35th minute through their seasoned striker Ajit Kumar Singh. Veteran Akum Ao made it 2-0 in the 47th minute which virtually sealed the fate of the match. In the second semifinal, ASEB Sports Club, Guwahati will play against Barhungkha Football Club, Kokrajhar on August 30.
