MORIGAON, Sept 2 - Assam Rifles, Shillong emerged champions in the 45th Motiram Bora Football Tournament beating Barhungkha Football Club, Kokrajhar 4-1 in the final match being played at the Khirode Boruah Stadium here today. Assam Rifles netted the first goal through KD Juwala in the 10th minute with a solo effort. Juala enhanced the margin in the 45th minute. After the break M Chetri and Akam Ao struck in the 47th and 48th minutes respectively.
The Kokrajhar team netted the consolation goal in the 53rd minute when Satrughan managed to beat the opponent goalkeeper.
KD Juwala of Assam Rifles was adjudged as the best player of the final while his team mate M Thang Kuki was declared Man of the tournament. Ankur Datta, secretary, Assam Football Association handed over the trophy in the closing function.
