DIMAPUR, Aug 13 - Assam Rifles has busted an NSCN (IM) temporary camp at New Ngaolong in Peren district, an Assam Rifles release said on Monday.
Assam Rifles troopers launched a search operation on August 7 and noticed the presence of a group of 10 to 15 NSCN (IM) cadres in the temporary camp, the release said.
When the Assam Rifles column approached the camp and asked the NSCN (IM) cadres to surrender as per ceasefire ground rules guidelines on the morning of August 8, the cadres responded by opening automatic fire on the security forces, it said.
The release said the NSCN (IM) cadres abandoned the camp and fled taking cover of the thick jungle. Later, the camp was destroyed by the Assam Rifles.
The Assam Rifles said this act of NSCN (IM) was a gross violation of the ceasefire ground rules.
