Assam post 135-run victory against Haryana

GUWAHATI, Nov 14 � Assam gained five points against Haryana in the U-22 CK Nayudu Trophy tournament with a 135-run victory. On the third day of the four-day match at Tinsukia today, chasing a stiff target of 268 runs in the second innings, Haryana were skittled out for 132 in 38.3 overs.

Earlier, resuming their second innings at the over night total of 150 for three, Assam gathered 253. Pallab Das, who was unbeaten on 71 yesterday, completed his deserving century (103). Pallab faced 206 balls and steered Assam to a commendable total. In the second innings Haryana batsmen fell like nine pins as speedster Arup Das took four wickets giving away 47 runs. Sarupam Purkayastha captured two wickets for 16. Assam boys fielded well today and made three Haryana batsmen run out.

Brief scores: Assam 131 and 253 (Pallab Das 103, Sarupam Purkayastha 38, Washikur Rahman 26, Roshan Alam 24, Amresh Choudhury 5/53).
