Assam players make clean sweep in AITA tournament

GUWAHATI, June 15 - Kritanta Sarma of Assam lifted triple crown by winning both the boys U-16 and 18 singles titles of the AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament which concluded at the All Assam Tennis Association Complex in Chachal here today. He earlier won the boys U-18 doubles title yesterday.

In the girls U-16 and 18 years singles events, Assam girl Kristi Boro annexed double crown by winning both the events.

In a brief prize distribution ceremony, trophies were distributed by Col Mridul Borkakati and Digantajyoti Gogoi, joint secretary, All Assam Tennis Association (AATA) in the presence of secretary Ankush Dutta.

Final results: (Boys U-16) Top seed Kritanta Sarma (Assam) bt Shahir Farhaz (Assam) 6-0, 6-2; (Boys U-18) Top seed Kritanta Sarma (Assam) bt Amit Rout (West Bengal) 6-2, 6-2; (Girls U-16) Top seed Kristi Boro (Assam) bt 2nd seed Ishika Chakma (Assam) 6-3, 6-4; (Girls U-18) Top seed Kristi Boro (Assam) bt 2nd seed Ishika Chakma (Assam) 6-2, 6-4.
