SILCHAR, Nov 9 - Chasing 232 runs to win the Plate B CK Nayudu Trophy encounter against Haryana at the SM Dev Stadium here, Assam need another 118 runs to win on the final day tomorrow. Having taken a healthy lead of 85 runs overnight, Haryana batters went out to bat on day three looking to consolidate and post a big total for Assam to chase. But Jogeswar Bhumij had other ideas.
His frugal spell of bowling did not let the visitors break free on a pitch that had lots of runs. With five maidens in 17.1 overs, Bhumij picked up five wickets giving away just 37 runs. Local boy Abhay Kumar Yadav also rolled his arms for five overs and picked up one wicket for 16 runs. It was mainly because of Bhumij Haryana innings was wrapped up at a score of 158 in 58.1 overs giving the homes side 232 runs to win. SU Yadav was the top scorer with 38 runs in 94 balls and LS Kumar also made 32 runs in 76 deliveries.
Chasing the score, Assam made 114 runs losing three wickets with 118 more runs to win. Sunzow Bhramha is batting on 27 with Roshan Alom on 3.
