Assam, Manipur boxers dominate

GUWAHATI, July 24 � Assam and Manipur boxers have been performing creditably in the 6th Youth Women National Boxing Championship.

Anita Kahar and Fwilao Basumatary entered final in the 51 kg and 54 kg groups respectively. Anita downed Bimola Devi of Manipur 6-2 while Fwilao knocked out her West Bengal opponent Richa Sharma in the third round.

In other semifinals Assam girls Anjali Mouchahari defeated Geeta Devi of Manipur 6-1 in 60 kg category while Minu Basumatary knocked out Neha Malvia of Madhya Pradesh in 64 kg group.

Manipur boxers Sarjubala Devi, Lakia Soyiban and Sony Chanu also entered final defeating Nuine of Punjab and Diksha also from Punjab respectively. Sony downed Vinita Mahar of Uttarakhand.

In other semifinals played earlier today, Rebecca of Mizoram beat Neha Tokas of Delhi and Sonia of Haryana downed Anna Purna of Andhra Pradesh.
