GUWAHATI, Nov 15 � Assam are in trouble on the second day of the four-day Group C Ranji Trophy match against Andhra.
At the Rural Development Trust Stadium, Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh today, in reply to Andhra�s first innings total of 297, Assam were tottering at 116 for four.
The host team resumed their innings at 233 for five and were soon in trouble losing two quick wickets at team�s total of 237. But some contributions from the middle order, enabled them to reaching a respectable total.
Overnight unbeaten batsman Bodapati Sumanth (on 56) added 19 runs this morning before depart. AG Pradeep (27), D Shivkumar (21) and Shankara Rao (31) were the other Andhra batsmen who had little touches.
Assam captain Abu Nechim Ahmed sent down a fiery spell today and captured four wickets. He came out with a five-wicket haul giving away 62 runs. Syed Mohammad was the other wicket-taker today. But the Andhra bowlers put the visitors in trouble removing four wickets. Assam started the innings with a confident note and added 45 runs between Pallab Das and Dhiraj Jadhav. After Pallab�s departure (30), Assam lost three more wickets in the form of inform Sib Sankar Roy (21), Tarjinder Singh (19) and night watchman Pritom Das (0). Opener Dhiraj and Niraj Patel were at the crease with 44 and 0 respectively.
