IMPHAL, May 3 - A 20 member Assam hockey team including two officials as well as seven other teams arrived here today for the upcoming 6th Hockey India Sub-Junior Men�s National Championship A and B division. The championship will be held at the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex here from May 5 to 22.
Assam team coach Md Ariful Kalam told The Assam Tribune that they will face Bihar in their first match on May 7. Assam will also face Mumbai, Rajasthan and Citizen teams on May 10,12 and 13 respectively.
The remaining teams are expected to arrive tomorrow, according to the organising secretary, Gyanendro Ningombam of Manipur Hockey (MH).
MH president and former Olympian Ksh Thoiba Singh said that 39 teams � 16 for A division and 23 for B division � will take part in the championship. The A division will be held from May 14 to 22 while the B division will be held from May 5-16, Thoiba Singh added.
