Assam-Goa Ranji tie from today

GUWAHATI, Nov 9 � The four-day Plate Group Ranji Trophy match between Assam and Goa will begin at Nehru Stadium here tomorrow.

It will be the second match for both the teams and is counted to be highly valuable for both. From the previous match, Assam got two points as their match against J&K ended before completion of the first innings. On the other hand, Goa collected one point from their drawn match against Maharashtra as they conceded a first innings lead.

On paper, Goa is a good team with inform players like Vaibhav Naik, Saurabh Bandakar, Robin D�Souza. However, their skipper Swapnil Asnodkar was dropped for two matches by their State body for misconduct during their match against Maharashtra.

Assam will again miss the services of seasoned batsman R Satish who is yet to recover from injury. Assam selectors today included Kerala all-rounder Sreekumar Nair in the team to bolster both batting and bowling power of the team. Sreekumar is an experienced all rounder. He has 3,904 runs and 131 wickets from 72 first class matches. He also smacked a 306 against Services. A left arm spinner and batsman, Sreekumar could be termed as an utility player if he can adjust with the environment and his team members.
