NEW DELHI, March 3: Assam got the better of Railways by four wickets in their group A match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium here today.

Electing to bat, Railways managed to put a total of 215 runs before being bundled out in 48.3 overs. Arup Das returned with figures of three for 36 in his nine overs, while Aakash Verma was the top scorer for Railways with 55 runs.

In reply, Assam got past the target losing six wickets in 48 overs. Pallav Das scored 45 runs, while KB Arun Karthik chipped in with 42 runs. Ashish Yadav picked up three wickets conceding 26 runs in his allotted 10 overs.

In another group A match, skipper Harbhajan Singh led from the front with figures of four for 33 as Punjab beat Haryana by five wickets.

This is Punjab�s third win in five games which keeps them in hunt for quarterfinals from this group.

Batting first, Haryana could score only 194 as Harbhajan�s three wicket burst left them reeling at 127 for five from a relatively comfortable 75 for one.

Punjab got the runs in 41.4 overs with Gurkeerat Singh Mann again anchoring the chase with an unbeaten 91 off 86 balls studded with 14 boundaries.

Assam: 216 for 6 in 48.0 overs (Pallav Das 45, KB Arun Karthik 42; Ashish Yadav 3/26).
