Assam athletes shine in Special Olympics

GUWAHATI, March 21 � Assam bagged six gold and three silver medals in the recently held National Athletics Championship organized by Special Olympics, Bharat at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi.

The schools which participated in the event were Shishu Sarothi, Ashadeep and Asha School, Narengi.

Altogether 11 players from Assam participated in the event which ended on March 15.

Hirakjyoti Barman and Aminul Haque of Shishu Sarothi won gold and silver medals respectively in 25 metre running. Aminul Haque also bagged a gold in soft ball throw event, a press release stated.

More than 600 athletes from 26 States participated in the championship.
