Assam-Andhra Ranji tie from today

By Sports reporter

GUWAHATI, Dec 21 Assam and Andhra will start battle for supremacy in their four-day Group C Ranji Trophy match at the Nehru Stadium here from tomorrow.

It will be the seventh match for both the teams. Andhra are in the second position in the point table with 20 points from 6 outings while Assam is at the fourth position with 17 points. In order to stay in course for the top positions Assam need a win or first innings lead in a drawn match.

The wicket here is quite green with ample grass on it. If it remains same then pace bowlers will have a nice time in the morning session. So toss is like to play a vital role tomorrow.

In comparison to Andhra, Assam batsmen are in poor form. Except skipper Dheeraj Jadhav, middle order batsman Tarjinder Singh and to some extent opener Pallav Das other batsmen are yet to satisfy their followers in previous matches. Andhra batsmen, Amol Mazumder in particular, who again became the highest run getter in Ranji Trophy, are in good form and likely to dominate here also.
