NEW DELHI, April 24 - A delegation of the Asom Sattra Mahasabha, led by its president Jitendra Nath Pradhani, arrived in the national capital today to petition the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) reversing its stand on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

Sources said the Sattra Mahasabha is going to withdraw its first memorandum that was submitted in a public hearing on April 17, when its vice president Akhil Mahanta and general secretary Kusum Kumar Mahanta supported the Bill, leading to a massive public outcry in Assam.

The Sattra Mahasabha is now going to submit a fresh memorandum opposing the Bill in keeping with its fresh resolution.
