ASJA delegation meets CM

GUWAHATI, Oct 28 - A delegation of the Assam Sports Journalists Association (ASJA) called on Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at his office chamber last evening.

The ASJA team, led by president Subodh Malla Baruah, urged the CM to reintroduce the Lachit Award to the eminent sportspersons of the State which was initiated in 1970s.

In a cordial discussion the Chief Minister also sought the co-operation of the sports scribes so that the U-17 FIFA World Cup could be organised here successfully. Sonowal also expressed his desire to create a proper atmosphere in the State for the development of sports.

ASJA secretary Bidyut Kalita, members Balendra Mohan Chakravorty, Umanand Jaiswal, Partha Chakraborty, Mrinal Bora were the other members of the delegation, stated a release.
