ASEB outplay Ganga SC, in final

By Sports reporter

GUWAHATI, Aug 8 - Showing their class and making good use of experience, ASEB Sports Club handed a 3-1 drubbing to Ganga Sports Club in the first semifinal of the 11th NN Bhattacharyya Knock-out Football Tournament.

Playing a decent game ASEB took early lead when medio Sanatumba Sarma diverted the ball into the Ganga net off a Jessy Vanlalmuana centre from the left flank in the 21st minute.

Skipper Sanjoy Boro enhanced the margin in the 63rd minute with a beautifully taken free kick from 20 yards. Substitute Rakesh Das made it 3-0 in the 80th minute anticipating a square pass from Jwmbla Brahma.

In the 88th minute Lalbiakfela reduced the margin converting a spot kick. Ganga forward Laltansanga was brought down by ASEB defender Bapy Rahang inside the box and as a result a penalty kick was awarded to Ganga SC.

ASEB midfielder Rahul Das was quite agile on the ground and showed some good temperament. His distributions to the frontliners were also effective. But he should improve his shooting at goal. The ASEB defenders looked quite compact. They stood firm throughout the course maintaining proper balance.

The Ganga players were lacking in speed. Their midfielders hardly could find the strikers inside the opponent goal area. The striking force, which includes Nigerian Chibuzo Patrick looked sharpless.
