ASEB lift GR Cup

GUWAHATI, Nov 23 - GSA Super Division League champions ASEB Sports Club lifted the Guwahati Refinery (GR) Cup defeating Global FC, Gossaigaon 2-0 in the final last evening. Jamla Brahma (55th minute) and substitute Apurba Phukan (68th minute) scored one goal each. Jamla was adjudged the man of the tournament.

The 8th GR Cup Prize- money Invitation Football Tournament was organised at Guwahati Refinery Sector-II playground at Noonmati from November 15. Altogether eight teams-Assam State Electricity Board, Eleven Star Club (Bongaigaon), Azara Boys Club, City Police, Guwahati Town Club, Barekuri FC (Tinsukia), Moran Town Club, and Global FC (Gosaigaon) took part in the meet.

The winning team received Rs 50,000 while the runners-up team became richer by Rs 30,000. J Barpujari, ED, Guwahati Refinery along with Dr M Angamuthu, DC Kamrup (M) and Ankur Dutta, secretary, Assam Football Association were present in the closing function.
